Danger Radon Gas

Radon is a naturally occurring odorless, colorless gas and the second leading cause of lung cancer. High levels of radon can be found in homes across all North Carolina counties.

Unfortunately, N.C. Cooperative Extension will not have free kits to distribute this year, but there is a free resource available for North Carolina residents. Each homeowner can go to the North Carolina Radon website and order one short-term test kit. Supplies are limited, so be sure to order for your kit as soon as possible!

If you have questions about radon or any Family and Consumer Sciences matters, feel free to contact Jessica Zucchino at jessica.zucchino@ncsu.edu or call the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Mitchell County office at 828-688-4811.
