sharpshooters results

Currituck County 4-H Sharpshooters represented the county well at the recent 2021 Eastern Regional Shooting Sports Qualifier, held at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC. Twelve members of the  Currituck County 4-H Sharpshooters competed in the tournament and nine qualified and will represent the county at the state 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament being held October 9, 2021 at Millstone 4-H Camp in Ellerbe, NC.

Kilynn Brinkley, Jacob Murray and Chloe Fredrick placed 1st in the small bore pistol team competition, with Kilynn scoring 5th overall. Also qualifying for the state competition in small bore pistol are Emma Solly (4th ind.) and Bobby Volpe (5th ind.). 

The Senior Rifle Team (open sight), consisting of Kilynn Brinkley, Chloe Fredrick and Emma Solly placed 2nd in the team competition, with Chloe scoring 2nd overall and Emma placing 5th overall. Bobby Volpe also qualified for the state tournament in this discipline.

The Senior Rifle Team (telescopic sight) consisting of Kilynn Brinkley, Chloe Fredrick and Jacob Murray placed 2nd in the team competition, with Chole and Jacob tying for 3rd overall. Emma Solly also qualified by finishing 2nd in the individual competition. 

The Sharpshooter Juniors also had an outstanding day and qualified 4 competitors for the state tournament. Addison Murray, Kaleb Kelly and James Morris are qualified in junior rifle (open sight) with Addison placing 1st individual and 1st overall in the competition. Leeland Beasley also qualified in junior rifle (telescopic) with a 2nd place finish. James Morris and Leeland Beasley qualified in junior compound archery, with Leeland posting a 5th place finish. James and Leeland also qualified in junior shotgun with Leeland placing 5th individual and James finishing 1st individual and 1st overall with a perfect score of 25.

The state 4-H Shooting Sports tournament is a qualifying event for senior competitors, for selection to the NC State 4-H team which will compete at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament in Grand Island Nebraska in June 2022.
